Severe Update

Severe weather has begun in the Southern Miami Valley! Thunderstorms have developed along a boundary in the area. We do have a Tornado Watch in effect for most of our counties until 3am.

Many warnings have been posted for counties south of I-70. The line of severe thunderstorms is moving southeast at about 30-35 mph. We have had reports of rotation from many spotters out in the field... including one spotter reporting a rotating wall cloud. This is basically one step away from a tornado as the cloud base is lowering. Many of these thunderstorms are taking on the signature torado "hook echo"... so it is a very dangerous situation... stay in your safe place if your county goes under a warning.

There is a tornado threat, damaging wind, and hail threat as well. We even have reports of someone being hit by lightning in Waynesville as the thunderstorm moved through that area. Stay away from windows, doors... put as many walls between you and the storm as you can! Stay with us on Channel 2 for continuous updates!

Well, you guys have gone off the air. We're guessing from up here in Kettering that you guys suffered a lightning strike. The website is still up--perhaps you can blog the information while you try to get the transmissions up and running again.

One word... "Crazy!" :) I have to say, I was caught off guard somewhat after that MCS moved through... I thought that would make everything stable. Apparently not! lol... I am happy to see that everyone is okay.
